THE ZAMBIA ARMY WOULD LIKE TO REITERATE ITS CAUTION TO MEMBERS OF THE GENERAL PUBLIC THAT THERE ARE UNSCRUPULOUS PEOPLE MASQUERADING AS RECRUITING OFFICERS WHO ARE SWINDLING INNOCENT CITIZENS OUT OF THEIR HARD EARNED MONEY BY PURPORTING THAT THE ZAMBIA ARMY IS RECRUITING OFFICERS AND SOLDIERS AT A FEE. THE SCAMMERS HAVE EVEN GONE FURTHER TO GENERATE FAKE LIST OF ‘SUCCESSFUL APPLICANTS’ AND ENLISTMENT LETTERS.
WE WISH TO INFORM THE PUBLIC THAT IT IS THE ARMY’S POLICY THAT WHENEVER WE ARE RECRUITING OFFICERS AND SOLDIERS, ADVERTS ARE PLACED IN BOTH PRINT AND ELECTRONIC MEDIA, AND AT NO TIME DOES THE ARMY DEMAND ANY PAYMENT FROM POTENTIAL OFFICERS AND SOLDIERS.
THE PUBLIC SHOULD KNOW THAT THE ARMY IS CURRENTLY NOT CONDUCTING ANY RECRUITMENT OF OFFICERS AND SOLDIERS CONTRARY TO WHAT IS CIRCULATING ON SOCIAL MEDIA.
SOME OF THE SWINDLERS HAVE BEEN NABBED AND HANDED OVER TO THE CIVIL POLICE TO FACE THE LAW. IT IS, HOWEVER, UNFORTUNATE THAT DESPITE THE ARMY’S REPEATED CAUTION, SOME MEMBERS OF THE PUBLIC HAVE CONTINUED FALLING VICTIMS TO THESE SCAMMERS.
THE ARMY WILL THEREFORE NOT BE HELD RESPONSIBLE BY ANYONE WHO WILL RESPOND TO RECRUITMENT ADVERTS ON ANY OTHER MEDIA APART FROM ZAMBIA NATIONAL BROADCASTING CORPORATION (ZNBC), TIMES OF ZAMBIA AND ZAMBIA DAILY MAIL.
WE FURTHER ADVISE MEMBERS OF THE GENERAL PUBLIC ESPECIALLY THOSE WITH INTEREST OF JOINING THE ARMY TO REMAIN CALM AND WAIT FOR AN ADVERT IN PRINT AND ELECTRONIC MEDIA WHEN SUCH A TIME COMES.
