This year’s Kuomboka Ceremony will take place on 28 March, with the royal barge, the Nalikwanda, expected to journey from Lealui to Mulamba Harbour in Mongu District.
Announcing the date at the Mboo Kuta in Limulunga Royal Village, Ngambela Mukela Manyando said preparations are progressing well. However, he noted that the clearing of the Moyowamo canals remains a significant challenge.
He explained that blocked waterways at Mulamba Harbour — the designated docking point — could disrupt the smooth passage of the Nalikwanda from Lealui to Limulunga Royal Village. If not urgently addressed, this may delay the arrival of His Majesty King Lubosi Imwiko II.
Mr Manyando has since appealed to Government to assist the Barotse Royal Establishment by clearing the critical canals from Lealui to Limulunga, as well as the route leading to Mulamba Harbour in Mongu.
