Today marked a significant milestone for Zambia’s youth as President Hakainde Hichilema engaged with vibrant young minds at the 2025 National Youth Indaba. The event highlighted the government’s unwavering commitment to empowering young people and enhancing their welfare — a bold step towards securing a prosperous future for Zambia.
🚀 Doubling the Economy – A Clear Vision for Youth Empowerment
President Hichilema outlined his administration’s clear vision to double Zambia’s economy — a transformative strategy aimed at creating more jobs and business opportunities for the youth. He emphasised the introduction of tailored policies designed to support youth empowerment, particularly encouraging young people to explore innovative opportunities in key sectors such as energy, agriculture, and technology.
“Our young people are the backbone of this nation. We are determined to create an environment where they can thrive as entrepreneurs and innovators,” said President Hichilema.
🌾 Strategic Youth-Focused Policies and Business Opportunities
The government has rolled out new initiatives to empower the youth, urging young people to take advantage of opportunities in:
✅ Renewable energy – Driving sustainable growth through green innovation
✅ Agriculture – Unlocking value chains and creating market linkages
✅ Technology and entrepreneurship – Providing platforms for creative and business-minded youth
🤝 Private Sector and Quasi-Government Institutions Called to Action
President Hichilema called upon quasi-government institutions and the private sector to step up by expanding internship and mentorship opportunities. These efforts aim to foster a supportive ecosystem where young people can gain valuable skills and experience.
“We cannot build this nation alone. We need the private sector to open doors for young talent and help create the next generation of Zambian leaders,” the President urged.
🌍 Inclusion and Equal Representation
The President also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to promoting the participation of marginalized groups — particularly women and youth — in governance and decision-making processes. He stressed that true national development can only be achieved when everyone has a seat at the table.
🌟 A Call to Action for Zambia’s Youth
In a powerful message to young Zambians, President Hichilema encouraged hard work, integrity, and responsible behaviour as key pillars for success.
“The future of Zambia is in your hands. Your hard work and determination will shape the destiny of this nation. Let’s unite in building a Zambia where young people’s dreams are nurtured and realised,” he concluded.
