Chikankata, Zambia — Calls for unity and responsible leadership have emerged over the development of the Chikankata–Kasamu Road, with Hon. Sabao emphasising that the project must not be politicised but recognised for what it truly is — a transformative development initiative for the people.
Speaking passionately on the matter, Chikankata Constituency Member of Parliament Hon. Sabao stated that the Chikankata–Kasamu Road is not a political tool but a developmental road designed to improve livelihoods, enhance connectivity, and stimulate economic activity in the district.
“We should not politicise the Chikankata–Kasamu Road because it is a developmental road that will improve the lives of the people of Chikankata,” Hon. Sabao said.
A Road Meant for the People
The Chikankata–Kasamu Road serves as a critical link connecting communities to essential services such as healthcare facilities, schools, markets, and farming areas. For many residents, especially those in rural parts of Chikankata, improved road infrastructure translates directly into:
- Easier transportation of agricultural produce
- Reduced travel time to health centres
- Improved access to education
- Increased business opportunities
Hon. Sabao stressed that infrastructure development should always rise above partisan interests and focus on the broader objective — improving people’s living standards.
Development Beyond Politics
In her remarks, Hon. Sabao cautioned against turning national or local development projects into political battlegrounds. She noted that when development is politicised, it risks dividing communities and slowing down progress that is meant to benefit everyone.
“Development does not belong to one individual or political grouping. It belongs to the people,” she emphasised.
She further called on stakeholders, community leaders, and residents to support initiatives that promote growth and unity rather than division.
A Call for Collective Responsibility
The message underscores a growing need for leaders to prioritise service delivery over political rivalry. As Chikankata continues to grow, infrastructure such as the Chikankata–Kasamu Road will play a pivotal role in unlocking economic potential and fostering inclusive development.
Hon. Sabao’s remarks serve as a reminder that roads are more than physical pathways — they are lifelines that connect people to opportunity, dignity, and progress.
