President Hakainde Hichilema of Zambia is currently hosting a high-profile delegation from the United States Congress during his working visit to Livingstone in the Southern Province. The visit, which underscores Zambia’s commitment to strengthening international ties, is unfolding with a series of formal engagements and discussions.
The day’s events began with an arrival ceremony at Harry Mwaanga Nkumbula International Airport, where government officials, civic leaders, and foreign dignitaries, including members of the US Congress and the Aspen Delegation, are gathering. The presence of the US Congress delegation highlights the significance of this diplomatic engagement.
At 09:40 hours, President Hichilema arrived at the airport and is now en route to Avani Resort for a series of briefings. A key moment of the visit is the ongoing US Congressmen Round Table Meeting, where discussions are expected to focus on trade, governance, and regional cooperation. The President is also engaging with local leaders, including the Mayor of Livingstone, Ms. Constance N. Muleabai, and the Provincial Minister, Hon. Credo Nanjuwa.
The programme, issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, includes the Zambia National Anthem, symbolising the nation’s unity and pride. The visit is set to conclude at 14:00 hours, after which President Hichilema will depart for Lusaka.
This visit highlights Zambia’s active role in fostering global partnerships under President Hichilema’s leadership, with the Southern Province serving as a key venue for diplomatic dialogue.
