Kabwata, Zambia – United Party for National Development (UPND) President Hakainde Hichilema has underscored the critical role of grassroots structures in securing electoral success, urging party leaders to intensify mobilisation efforts—particularly among youth—ahead of the 2026 General Elections.
Speaking during a community engagement meeting with Kabwata Polling Management Committees, President Hichilema highlighted the party’s commitment to youth empowerment through initiatives such as free education, skills training, and university bursaries.
“The strength of our party lies in the strength of our lower structures, especially the polling management committees,” he stated. “As we prepare for 2026, all leaders must work together to recruit and mobilise members, focusing on young people who are the future of our nation.”
Grassroots Mobilisation & Membership Audit
President Hichilema commended the Kabwata Member of Parliament and the National Management Committee for conducting a successful membership audit, calling it a model for other constituencies to follow. He stressed the importance of organised, data-driven campaigns to ensure a strong voter base.
Recognition for Artistic Support
The President also acknowledged the contributions of artists, particularly musicians who composed campaign songs during the 2021 elections. “We appreciate the creatives who stood with us and amplified our message. Their support remains invaluable,” he said.
