The newly established opposition alliance has been left without the support of the Socialist Party, as the party’s Media Director, Brian Hapuunda, has made it clear that their main focus lies in mobilizing and actively participating in elections. Consequently, the Socialist Party has chosen not to align themselves with the alliance, prioritizing their efforts towards engaging with the electorate and ensuring their presence in the electoral process.
Mr. Hapuunda, during his press conference in Kitwe today, expressed his party’s stance on collaboration with other opposition political parties to rally the residents for the upcoming 2026 elections. Despite their own party’s determination, they are open to working together with other parties to mobilize the community and ensure a strong voter turnout in the future elections.
In addition, he has emphasized the crucial requirement for the success of any political union, stating that all parties participating in the union must demonstrate authenticity and approach the pertinent issues with utmost sincerity. This implies that a genuine commitment from all involved parties is essential in order to achieve positive outcomes and effectively address the challenges at hand. By emphasizing the importance of sincerity, he highlights the need for honest and transparent engagement among the parties, fostering an environment conducive to fruitful collaboration and progress.
Mr. Hapuunda, in light of the recently formed opposition alliance comprising of eight political parties, emphasized that his party’s primary focus lies on the ongoing by-elections and actively involving citizens in discussions surrounding national matters.

This statement highlights the party’s determination to exercise their democratic rights and uphold the principles of the constitution, even in the face of challenges. By expressing their intention to continue participating in elections, the Socialist Party Media Director emphasizes their party’s resilience and unwavering dedication to democratic processes.
