According to Vice President Mutale Nalumango, Africa’s increasing population offers numerous opportunities for inclusive growth. By utilizing the continent’s abundant natural resources and human capital, Africa can enhance prosperity not only for itself but also for the rest of the world.
During the launch of the African Union Population Experts Committee and Ministers in charge of population meeting, Vice President Mrs. Nalumango highlighted the potential opportunities for inclusive growth that Africa’s growing population presents. She emphasized that the African population is projected to increase from 1.5 billion to 2.5 billion by 2050, making it the youngest and fastest growing population globally. This population growth can be seen as a positive factor that can contribute to the development and progress of the continent.
According to the Vice President, Africa’s growing population is not only a source of opportunities for inclusive growth but also presents challenges. These challenges include instability in certain nations, economic slowdown, increasing poverty levels, and the potential impact of climate change on food security, among others.
Africa’s growing population and its abundance of natural resources present numerous opportunities for African nations to tackle these challenges and create a more prosperous future.
During the event, African Union Specialized Technical Committee on Health and Drug Control Chairperson Kamba Samuel-Roger emphasized that Africa’s growing population presents opportunities for inclusive growth. He highlighted the importance of finding solutions to global trends, climate change, and humanitarian crises that have occurred in the past decade and will continue to be relevant in the future. The meeting was seen as a platform to address these issues and work towards positive outcomes.
