A cross section of traders selling ready to eat foods on the streets of Lusaka have disregarded the recent ban on the sale of ready to eat foods by the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development.
The traders have argued that they cannot stop selling ready to eat foods on the streets because it is their only way of survival.
Reacting to the recent ban on the sale of ready to eat foodstuffs on the streets to curb the outbreak of cholera by the ministry of local government and rural development, the traders are urging government to rethink its decision, amidst high poverty and unemployment levels.
The traders who were found selling various already cooked foods despite the ban have told Phoenix News that government should instead work together with the traders in ensuring the streets are clean to avoid endangering other people’s lives.
