Opposition Economic Front-EF- Leader Wynter Kabimba says the appointment of Professor Margaret Munalula as constitutional court president will help to advance the country’s judiciary as opposed to some views that this is meant to serve the interests of the appointing authority.

Recently President Hakainde Hichilema appointed Professor Margaret Munalula as Constitutional Court president and Arnold Shilimi as Deputy president while Judge Mudford Mwandenga, Judge Maria Kawimbe, and Judge Kenneth Mulife were appointed as judges of the constitutional court.

Mr. Kabimba, a Former Justice Minister in the previous regime, believes that contrary to sentiments that the new office bearers have been appointed to serve the interest of President Hichilema, the new judges will be blind to the demands of the appointing authority and instead serve the demands of the constitution.

Meanwhile, Mr. Kabimba expects the new office bearers to help in speeding up judicial reforms to ensure that all the lacunas are amicably resolved.
