POLICE NAB FIVE PEOPLE BEHIND ILLEGAL LAND ALLOCATION

Five people have been picked by Police for illegal land allocation.

This is after Police received information from the Director of Galaunia Farms Limited that unknown persons trespassed upon Galaunia Farms by subdividing and selling land to unsuspecting members of the public.

The incident occurred between June 2022 and January 4, 2023 in Kampasa area of Chongwe District.

Police were alerted on January 9, 2023 around 12:30 hours investigations were instituted which led to the arrest of the suspects on January 18, 2023 around 01:00 hours at Galaunia Farms.

The suspects have been identified as Jatel Zulu aged 55, Patrick Kapya age not known both of Meanwood Phase three, Steward Kapandula aged 35 of Catapuls, Tobias Mwemba aged 22 of Kampasa village and Prince Chanda aged 22 of Obama area.

Police also recovered a tent that was mounted at the site including surveying machines and land documents.

Investigations are ongoing as Police have engaged the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources.

The suspects are detained in Police custody awaiting to be formally charged.
