Twenty members of the United Church of Zambia, or UCZ, belonging to a group known as the Women’s Christian Fellowship, or WCF, have died in a road traffic accident, with many others said to be nursing injuries at Nsumbu Clinic and Mpulungu District Hospital.

Confirming this to Mano News, UCZ – Northern Presbytery Bishop, MAYBIN MULENGA, says the heartbreaking incident happened today, 19th September, 2022 around 01:00 at a place called Chauchi Hill, along the Nsama – Nsumbu road.

Bishop MULENGA narrates that eighteen died on the spot while two others died at Nsumbu Clinic, saying these were part of the fifty-eight women that were traveling back from a consistory conference held over the weekend in Nsama.

He adds that the driver of a light truck which the said WCF Members boarded allegedly lost control and overturned while descending at the Chauchi Hill.

Meanwhile, the bodies of the deceased are reportedly to have been deposited in Mporokoso General Hospital Mortuary.
