Zambia Army Commander Lieutenant General Sitali Dennis Alibuzwi today visited the funeral house for the late former Army Commander General Nobby Simbeye in Kabulonga to commiserate with the bereaved family.

Lt Gen Alibuzwi, who was accompanied by General Grade Officers from Army Headquarters, encouraged the widow and mourners to look up to God for comfort, strength and hope. He said the Zambia Army has lost a reservoir of knowledge in General Simbeye, who was always available to offer guidance when called upon.

He said the Army will forever be indebted to General Simbeye for pioneering the establishment of the Zambia Defence Services Command and Staff College and for being instrumental in Zambia Army’s participation in United Nations’ peacekeeping missions.

General Simbeye died yesterday at Maina Soko Medical Centre after a short illness.

Earlier, the Army Commander visited the funeral house for late Colonel Brightwell Banda in Shimabala area. Colonel Banda passed away on Friday, 26 August 2022 at Maina Soko Medical Centre.

General Alibuzwi said the late Colonel Banda was instrumental in the development of football in the Zambia Army and in the Country as a whole. He said that even in retirement, Colonel Banda was always at hand to facilitate coaching workshops for Army football coaches.

Late Colonel Banda will be put to rest at Leopards Hill Memorial Park on Tuesday, 30 August 2022.
