National Democratic Congress-NDC Leader, Saboi Imboela, has called for an end to the culture of changing all government appointed individuals whenever there is a change of regime.

Imboela’s comment follows an announcement that Electoral Commission of Zambia- ECZ, Chief Electoral Officer, Kryticous Patrick Nshindano, will leave his position effective 7th August, 2022.

Imboela has however charged that individuals who have proved efficient in their roles, such as Nshindano, must have their contract of work extended on merit.

She fears that changes and individual appointments to sensitive institutions such as ECZ compromise the autonomy of such organisations in carrying out their work diligently.

Imboela has since thanked Nshindano for his services to the country, stating that he will be missed.

Nshindano joined ECZ in 2019 and has been described by the commission as instrumental in a number of innovations that have seen delivery of improved elections.
