ZANIS – MBALA District Commissioner, Annie Paul has cautioned communities in the area to avoid scaring government workers through witchcraft practices.

Mrs. Paul said it is unfortunate that some teachers desert their workstations because they were being threatened by witchcraft activities.

“Witchcraft activities that the community is practicing is forcing teachers to leave their schools for safety,” she said.

She said the situation is worrying as the lives of government workers who are supposed to provide quality services were put at risk through various witchcraft practices such as tattooing at night.

Mrs. Paul indicated that the government is sending workers to the area to enhance service delivery to the people.

She said this when she featured on a local radio station in Mbala which was monitored by ZANIS.

Mrs Paul further commended government for employing 484 teachers in Mbala during the just-ended teacher recruitment exercise.

She has since implored community members to embrace the newly recruited teachers to improve education standards in their areas.

Mrs.Paul said she will not allow what happened recently in the named area to happen to the newly recruited teachers.

She has warned that she will have no option but to withdraw and send them elsewhere.
