Lusaka, 31st May 2025 – The Energy Regulation Board (ERB) has announced a reduction in pump prices for petroleum products effective from midnight tonight, following a decline in global oil prices and an appreciation of the Zambian Kwacha against the US Dollar.
Key Adjustments
The revised prices for June 2025 are as follows:
- Petrol: K31.36 per litre (down from K32.14, a 2.43% decrease)
- Diesel: K25.12 per litre (down from K27.38, an 8.25% drop)
- Kerosene: K24.79 per litre (down from K26.88, a 7.78% reduction)
- Jet A-1: K27.08 per litre (down from K29.44, an 8.02% decline)
Reasons Behind the Reduction
The ERB attributed the price cuts to two main factors:
- Falling Global Oil Prices: Since April 2025, international petrol prices dropped by 2.50%, diesel by 4.06%, and kerosene/Jet A-1 by 4.33%.
- Stronger Kwacha: The local currency appreciated by 4.44% against the US Dollar, moving from K28.13 to K26.88.
Impact on Aviation Fuel
Post Airfield Prices (PAP) for Jet A-1 will vary across international airports:
- Kenneth Kaunda International Airport (Lusaka): K27.08/litre
- Mfuwe Airport: K30.32/litre
- Harry Mwaanga Nkumbula (Livingstone): K27.89/litre
- Simon Mwansa Kapwepwe (Ndola): K27.08/litre
Effective Date

Board Chairperson James Banda confirmed the adjustments, stating that the changes reflect current market trends and aim to provide relief to consumers.
This reduction marks the second consecutive monthly decrease, offering some respite to motorists and businesses amid fluctuating global energy markets.
