Monze, Zambia – President Hakainde Hichilema today graced the Official Opening Ceremony of the Seventh-Day Adventist (SDA) Dorcas Rally at the Rusangu Dorcas Rally Campsite in Monze District. The event, which brings together thousands of faithful members from across the country, is a key gathering for spiritual renewal, community service, and fellowship.
In his address, President Hichilema commended the SDA Church for its unwavering commitment to humanitarian work, education, and health services, aligning with the government’s vision of fostering national development through faith-based initiatives.
“The Dorcas Rally embodies the spirit of compassion and service to humanity, values that are central to both our Christian faith and our national ethos,” said the President. “As a government, we recognize and appreciate the Church’s role in uplifting communities, and we remain committed to partnering with religious institutions to promote unity and socio-economic growth.”
The Dorcas Rally, named after the biblical figure Dorcas known for her charitable deeds, focuses on empowering women, youth, and vulnerable groups through skills training, health awareness, and community outreach programs. This year’s theme emphasizes “Serving with Love: Transforming Lives Through Christ.”
President Hichilema urged Zambians to embrace the spirit of volunteerism and collective responsibility in building a prosperous nation. He also highlighted the importance of peaceful coexistence and religious tolerance in fostering national harmony.
“Wherever you are watching from—whether here at Rusangu, in your homes, or across the nation—let us all be inspired to serve selflessly and work together for a better Zambia,” he added.
The ceremony was attended by church leaders, government officials, and thousands of worshippers who gathered for a week of prayer, workshops, and community service activities.
