Inga Koryagina, Associate Professor of the Marketing Department at Plekhanov Russian University of Economics, International Development expert UNDP and Director of International Development of the Russian-African Club at Lomonosov Moscow State University, paid an official visit to Lusaka, Zambia to participate in the 2024 International Multi-Disciplinary Conference (IMDC 2024), organized by Dr. Richard Silumbe, Board Chairman of the Zambia Research and Development Centre and the Information and Communications University (ICU) and Maybe Kalumba, Board Secretary of the Information and Communications University, under the theme: “Fostering Knowledge Sharing and Innovation Competitiveness for Production-Enabled Development”.
IMDC 2024, recognised as Zambia’s leading academic conference, was held with the participation of Minister of Education of Zambia, Hon. Douglas Syakalima. This massive event attracted about 100 speakers from 20 countries including the UK, Russia, South Africa, China, USA, Czech Republic, India, Cuba, Oman, Japan, Zimbabwe, Namibia, Nigeria, Congo DRC, Botswana, Cameroon, Eswatini, Kenya and Zambia. Among the key participants was Boemo Sekgoma, Secretary General of the SADC Parliamentary Forum (Windhoek, Namibia). She participated in “IMDC High Level Media Interaction” and the “Welcome to the 2024 International Multi-Disciplinary Conference Official Opening Ceremony” of the conference, highlighting the importance of African cooperation in regional and global dialogue.
Inga Koryagina was the keynote speaker at the “International Multi-Disciplinary Conference 2024”. She also chaired the section “BAMS Paper Presentations | Business and Applied Management Sciences”, where students defended their scientific research. Under her guidance, participants presented projects aimed at finding innovative solutions in the field of applied management sciences.
At the conference held at the Mulungushi Conference Center, she presented her ideas and projects aimed at developing business, education and cultural cooperation between Russia and African countries. During her speech, she emphasized the importance of strengthening international dialogue based on mutual benefit and sustainable development.
One of the key topics was the development of cooperation within the BRICS framework. She pointed out the strategic importance of cooperation in the BRICS+ format, which contributes to the strengthening of economic and cultural ties, as well as to the achievement of sustainable development goals. The conference presented successful examples of cooperation between the member countries, including the exchange of best practices in urban management, ecology and digitalization.
In her remarks, Inga Koryagina also noted the significance of regional initiatives, such as the BRICS International Municipal Forum, which has already become a platform for attracting investment and sharing experience.
During the visit, Inga Koryagina participated in the “IMDC High Level Media Interaction”, and in a HighLevel Panel Discussion on “Business and Applied Management Sciences”. She emphasized the importance of mutually beneficial cooperation, offering a “friendly hand” from Russia to Zambia, in order to jointly overcome global challenges and create new opportunities for development.
As part of the visit, Inga Koryagina also recorded a video interview in which she spoke about her mission and the prospects for cooperation between Russia and Zambia. Her materials received a wide response, having been published in all leading Zambian media and covered by more than 20 media channels.
Inga Koryagina’s initial working visit to Zambia was an important step in strengthening Russian-African ties, laying the groundwork for further partnerships in science, culture and business. “I have already fallen in love with Zambia thanks to the warm welcome and friendly people,” she shared her impressions.
Inga Koryagina took part in the graduation ceremony of the Information and Communications University and presented honorary awards to the best graduate students. This became a symbol of her support for academic achievements and her commitment to the development of international educational cooperation.
In addition, as part of the conference, Inga Koryagina held talks with Dr. Richard Silumbe and Dr. Patrick Kalyabanyama, Vice-Rector, on signing an agreement on cooperation and student exchange between Plekhanov Russian Economic University and Mulungushi University. The negotiations resulted in an agreement that will open new opportunities for academic interaction and strengthen educational ties between Russia and Zambia.
Her participation in the conference was a vivid example of how business, education, science and culture can serve as a bridge between countries and continents, creating conditions for sustainable international cooperation.
