Lusaka, December 23, 2024 – The Government of Zambia, through the Cabinet Office, has announced adjustments to the work schedule for the upcoming festive season. In a circular dated December 23, 2024, the Secretary to the Cabinet, Mr. Patrick K. Kangwa, expressed gratitude to all government officials and public service employees for their dedication and hard work throughout the year.
To enable employees to prepare for Christmas and New Year festivities, the circular has designated Tuesday, December 24, 2024, and Tuesday, December 31, 2024, as half-working days across all government departments and institutions.
This year’s Christmas and New Year celebrations will fall on Wednesday, December 25, 2024, and Wednesday, January 1, 2025, respectively. The decision to introduce half-working days reflects the government’s recognition of the importance of family and celebration during this period.
The circular also emphasized the need for responsible celebrations and encouraged employees to embrace the spirit of the season. “Please remember the reason for the season, and celebrate responsibly, as we look forward to a productive year ahead,” Mr. Kangwa stated.
