The government has announced a significant investment in cyber security infrastructure aimed at combating online scams and curbing the dissemination of harmful content across digital platforms.
Technology and Science Minister Hon. Felix Mutati emphasized the administration’s commitment to safeguarding the well-being of all citizens, particularly children, through enhanced digital infrastructure.

During a joint press briefing with Home Affairs and Internal Security Minister Hon. Jacob Mwiimbu in Lusaka, Mr. Mutati issued a stern warning to scammers, asserting that their operations are numbered.
He underscored the serious implications of online abuse, which can inflict both physical and psychological harm on individuals.
In a related statement, Minister Mwiimbu cautioned that individuals engaging in the spread of propaganda, hate speech, or committing online crimes could face up to five years in prison.
He noted the increasing prevalence of false news, which poses a significant threat to national security, and urged citizens to exercise caution and responsibility in their online activities to maintain peace and order in the country.
