Clayson Hamasaka, the State House Chief Communications Specialist, has officially lodged a complaint with the police against Emmanuel Banda, the Member of Parliament for Petauke, for criminal defamation.
In a letter addressed to Inspector General of Police Graphel Musamba, Hamasaka expressed his dismay over the continuous circulation of reports and letters linking him to the alleged abduction of Banda.
He argued that these allegations amount to a serious defamation of his character, surpassing the boundaries of civil libel. Hamasaka vehemently denied the accusations, stating that he has never met the person he is accused of abducting and that they have no known relationship.
He emphasized that these publications and allegations have severely tarnished his personal reputation and pose a significant threat to his livelihood and personal safety.
Hamasaka also expressed concern for the safety of his family, as his accusers hold public influence and could potentially take matters into their own hands.
He has urged the police to prosecute Banda so that he can present any evidence linking him to the alleged abduction to the nation.
It is worth noting that Hamasaka is not the only individual accused in this case, as Presidential Political Advisor Levy Ngoma and UPND National Deputy Youth Chairperson Trevor Mwiinde are also implicated.
