In a proactive move, Hon Warren Mwambazi, the Chairperson of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC), spearheaded an expedition to Kitwe to inspect farming equipment that had been abandoned in Mpongwe under the Ministry of Education. This pressing matter had caught the attention of the committee as it was highlighted in the Report of the Auditor General for the Financial Year Ended 31 December 2022.
The farm and equipment under scrutiny were originally procured using public funds, amplifying the significance of the PAC’s role in meticulously overseeing the entire process. With a keen eye on ensuring transparency and accountability, the committee is determined to ensure that every kwacha is being utilized appropriately.
The committee’s primary objective is to verify that all recipients of public funds are utilizing them in a manner that truly benefits the well-being of the citizens. By conducting thorough inspections and assessments, the PAC aims to guarantee that the farming equipment in question is put to good use, contributing to the overall development and prosperity of the community.
