Mildred Mwila Kasase, an assistant director at the Ministry of Finance and National Planning, along with her son, have denied the accusations of killing her husband following an alleged argument.

Last year in August, Ms. Mwila, aged 48, was taken into custody and charged with murder in relation to the passing of her spouse, Alex Zulu.

She was charged alongside her 20-year-old son, Madiba Alex Zulu Junior, for the alleged murder that took place on July 29, 2023.

Reports from the police suggested that the deceased had suffered severe injuries such as broken bones, fractured limbs, and shattered ribs, believed to be a result of an assault.

Recently, Mwila and her son appeared in front of Judge Irene Mbewe at the Lusaka High Court, where Mwila was dressed in a formal blue suit, white blouse, and high heels, while her son was in casual attire.

Upon hearing the serious charges against them, both Mwila and her son pleaded not guilty before being escorted back to the detention facility.

As they left the court premises, Mwila shielded her face with a chitenge to avoid the media, with some journalists being scolded by her family members for their presence.
