The World Health Organization (WHO) is emphasizing the importance of ongoing monitoring of healthcare services in Zambia to ensure their sustainability in the wake of the recent cholera outbreak and drought situation.
According to WHO Country Representative Dr. Nathan Bakyaita, disease outbreaks and other crises like droughts can have a detrimental effect on the country’s healthcare system.
Dr. Bakyaita highlights that such events often coincide with other health issues that also require immediate attention, making it crucial to maintain vigilance in monitoring healthcare service delivery.
Despite the challenges, Dr. Bakyaita commends the efforts made in curbing the cholera outbreak in Zambia, noting a decrease in the number of cases reported.
Dr. Bakyaita expresses optimism that Zambia is making significant progress in overcoming the cholera outbreak that plagued the country at the end of the previous year and the beginning of the current year.
