Hon. Eng. Charles Milupi M.P, Minister of Infrastructure, Housing and Urban Development, recently attended a significant two-day inaugural Buildings and Climate Global forum in Paris, France.
Co-organized by France and the United Nations Environment Programme, the forum gathered ministers and high-level representatives from various organizations to deliberate on decarbonization and resilience within the buildings, real estate, and construction sectors.
Eng. Milupi and his counterparts supported the “Ministerial Declaration De Chaillot,” a non-legally binding statement designed to expedite global endeavors towards achieving decarbonization and climate change resilience in the buildings sector.
During a notable high-level plenary session focusing on Affordable Housing, the Honourable Minister emphasized the necessity for stronger global partnerships throughout the housing value chain, highlighting the ongoing Public Private Partnership in Zambia aimed at addressing the housing shortage.
Eng. Milupi stressed the significance of international collaboration in mobilizing finances for both developing and developed nations to effectively transition towards the net-zero and resilient buildings and construction global objectives.
The forum, which took place from 7 to 8 March 2024, was a follow-up to the successful launch of the Buildings Breakthrough at COP28, which aims to establish near-zero-emission and resilient buildings as the standard by 2030.
