President Hakainde Hichilema, during a meeting at State House this afternoon, welcomed Her Excellency Ms. Saana Halinen, Ambassador of Finland to Zambia, along with a delegation from the Finance Committee of the Parliament of Finland led by Ms. Krista Mikkonen.
The President expressed gratitude for the development cooperation between Zambia and Finland in various sectors like mining and agriculture during their discussions.
President Hakainde Hichilema also acknowledged the significant contribution of £9 million from Finland towards strengthening the Zambia Private Sector, particularly SMEs, from 2018 to 2023.
Emphasizing the importance of diplomatic relations, there was a call for increased cooperation between the two nations, especially in the mining sector, leveraging Finland’s expertise in geological surveys and capacity building for the EV value chain.
Additionally, President Hichilema highlighted the need for ongoing collaboration in agriculture and forestry, while also seeking Finnish support to modernize Zambia’s weather and climate early warning service systems.
President Hichilema reiterated the commitment to deepen development cooperation with the global community as a means to foster economic growth for Zambia.
