The Energy Regulation Board (ERB) has collaborated with law enforcement agencies, security wings, and the Drug Enforcement Commission to form a taskforce aimed at tackling illegal fuel vending. This joint effort has successfully apprehended 22 individuals involved in various illegal fuel dealings.
After conducting operations on suspected illegal fuel vending areas in and around Lusaka, the taskforce successfully executed raids. As a result, approximately 10,050 liters of fuel, valued at around K300,000, along with 6 pumps, were confiscated.
The ERB and Drug Enforcement Commission have released a joint statement, emphasizing their ongoing efforts to combat the widespread issue of illegal fuel vending throughout the nation.
All suspects who have been apprehended are presently held in police custody by the taskforce, awaiting the filing of formal charges.
The taskforce has made a firm commitment to persistently combat and eliminate the unlawful selling of fuel in the nation. It has issued a stern warning to individuals involved in this illegal activity, urging them to refrain from such actions or else face the full force of legal consequences.
