Africa Access Water (AfAW), in collaboration with its partner Tevel of Israel, has allocated a sum of 40,000 US Dollars to supply agricultural resources in Mphande Hills Villages, located in Kafue District. The objective behind this initiative is to foster the adoption of Climate Smart Agriculture practices.
The Chief Executive Officer of AfAW, Rodney Katongo, stated that the purpose of this decision is to support the government’s initiatives in reducing poverty by implementing sustainable practices.
He stated that there has been a difficulty in accessing inputs as not everyone can receive assistance from the Government. In order to support the Government’s efforts in providing inputs for farmers, Africa Access Water (AfAW) and Tevel of Israel have taken the initiative. They believe that by focusing on water for productive use, they can enhance the quality of people’s lives.
After receiving training in smart Agriculture and sustainable water usage, Mr. Katongo mentioned that his Organization distributed fertilizer, lime, and seeds to a minimum of 150 farmers. This initiative incurred a cost of over 40,000 US Dollars.
He stated that our main objective is to guarantee that farmers not only have access to agricultural inputs but also adopt Climate Smart Agriculture in a more structured manner.
Farmers have received training on the importance of demonstrating how gampani, which involves pot holing, can effectively enhance their production for increased yields after the rainy season.
