Dr. Ron Mwambwa, the Acting Auditor General, has dismissed the claims made by the Zambia Institute of Chartered Accountants (ZiCA) regarding the absence of a consolidated audit after the increase in the Constituency Development Fund (CDF).
Mrs. Yande Siame Mwenye, the President of ZICA, made claims during the media briefing in the fourth quarter of 2023 that lack factual evidence. This is because the Office has conducted an audit of all 156 Constituencies and the CDF Consolidated Financial Report for the first time.
Dr. Mwambwa emphasized that if ZiCA had sought consultation on the issue, they would have been informed of the accurate status. The CDF Audit Report and the Consolidated Financial Report have already been concluded and will soon become publicly available once they are presented in Parliament, following the appropriate procedure.
Dr. Mwambwa stated that the Office possesses the capability to conduct audits for all Constituencies based on the timely production of the CDF Audit Report.
The Acting Auditor General has additionally urged ZiCA to foster an atmosphere of open communication regarding audit-related issues in order to provide accurate information to the public.
This is according to a statement acquired by Melo News and released by Ellen Chikale, the Head of Public Relations in the Office of the Auditor General.
