In response to the anthrax outbreak in certain areas of the country, the Ndola City Council has taken action by confiscating and destroying uncertified meat products from three local butcheries in the district. This measure is aimed at ensuring the safety and well-being of the public during this health crisis.
The seized items include five heads of cattle, 36kgs of green offals, and 150kgs of meat. This proactive measure aims to protect the district from further contamination and ensure public health and safety.
During the anthrax outbreak in Ndola, the Ndola City Council is taking action against uncertified meat products. Mr. Mwanza, a representative from the council, emphasizes that big chain stores must ensure that their meat products are inspected and sealed before being sold. Health inspectors from the local authority will then conduct re-inspections upon the arrival of these products to ensure their safety.
The council has issued a warning to meat traders, stating that meat should only be sold in licensed butcheries. They have also stated that any meat products found being sold in open spaces will be seized. This measure is being taken to ensure the safety and quality of meat products being sold to the public.
