Amid controversy, former president Edgar Lungu has announced that he has vacated the house that the government was renting for him.
Amid controversy, Lungu has vacated Sunzu’s house following his return to active politics to compete against Miles Sampa for the PF presidency.
After his resignation following a significant electoral defeat in 2021, Lungu announced himself as the PF president and expressed his intention to continue where he left off.
Earlier yesterday, Lungu attempted to enter the PF secretariat but was denied access by the police. In response, he proceeded to the Police Service headquarters to demand an explanation for being stopped.
Despite his frustration with the unavailability of the Inspector General of Police, Lungu stated that he will proceed with helping his wife pack their belongings, as they had already started the process the day before.
According to Lungu, they did not even spend the night there and have already packed up and left. There are reports of organizers planning to use cadres to force them out of the house.
Despite facing blackmail and attempts to hinder his political agenda, Lungu remains determined and will not be swayed by the benefits at stake.
Lungu expressed his dissatisfaction with the situation, stating that he will not be easily manipulated and will fight for his rights.
He has instructed Lubinda to inform UPND cadres that he has already left the house that the government was renting for him as part of his retirement benefits.
