The trial date for the case involving former First Lady Esther Lungu and four others has finally been scheduled for November 27,2023. They are facing charges of theft of three vehicles and the grabbing of a certificate of title. The trial will take place at the Lusaka Magistrate Court.
Lungu is facing charges alongside James Phiri, Lee Chisulo, and two police officers named Kapembwa Lungu and Catherine Banda.
Mrs. Lungu and her co-accused appeared before the magistrate for mention, and the trial date was determined during this hearing.
The vehicles in question are said to be owned by Elizabeth Phiri, who is a relative of Mrs. Lungu.
In addition to the charges against her, Mrs. Lungu is also individually accused of possessing 400 thousand US dollars that are believed to be proceeds of crime.
The trial date for the Esther Lungu case, in which she is accused of grabbing a certificate of title for Mrs. PHIRI’s land, has finally been scheduled.
