In a dramatic turn of events, former President Edgar Lungu was denied access to the PF Secretariat. Despite his attempts, he was met with a strong police presence that prevented him from entering. As a result, he decided to go to the police headquarters, only to be met with a similar refusal.
He arrived at the secretariat accompanied by acting PF vice president Given Lubinda, senior party members, and party lawyer Makebi Zulu. Mr. Lungu expressed his dissatisfaction, stating, “Tukaba chita akantu ba UPND.”
He expressed his confusion and frustration, stating that he does not know where to go as the police cannot help him. He questioned why there were police present at their party secretariat and compared the situation to a game of hide and seek. Lungu mentioned the possibility of seeking divine intervention as they do not have the capacity to handle the situation. He also emphasized that they have already left the premises and warned the UPND cadres that they will take action if necessary.
This comes after Mr. Lungu’s announcement at a memorial event for late President Michael Sata, where he declared his return to active politics after careful consideration and discussions.
This decision was made to prevent opportunistic individuals from dismantling the legacy that the late president worked tirelessly to build.
Lungu expressed his determination to prevent the party from dying and to prevent factions and opportunistic individuals from causing harm.
This comes after the Miles Sampa faction held a convention where Mr. Sampa was declared party president. However, Mr. Lungu and his supporters have deemed this move illegal and have vowed to contest it.
In a surprising turn of events, former President Edgar Lungu has been denied access to the PF Secretariat. This comes as Mr. Sampa, in an effort to rebrand the party, has already begun implementing changes within the party.
The party has made it clear that they will not tolerate any unruly or violent behavior from their members. They are determined to show the citizens that they have reformed and are committed to being a responsible and respectful party. This decision comes after the party received one million red cards, indicating dissatisfaction from the public.
