Solomon Banda of the United Party for National Development (UPND) has emerged victorious in the Chitimukulu ward by-election in Chililabombwe, Zambia. Banda received 501 votes, while his closest rival, Donald Mwape of the Patriotic Front (PF), received 251 votes. This win marks a significant victory for the UPND in the region.

In the recent Chitimukulu Ward by-election, the United Party for National Development (UPND) emerged as the clear winner with a significant lead over other political parties. The Socialist party received 73 votes, while the Leadership Movement party and Citizens First each received 11 votes. The National Democratic Congress (NDC) received only 3 votes. The victory of the UPND in this by-election is a significant achievement for the party and demonstrates their growing support among voters in the region.

At 9:40 pm, Returning Officer Michael Katebe announced that Mr. Banda had won the Chitimukulu ward by-election and was officially elected as councilor. The victory was claimed by the UPND party.

The news was met with enthusiastic celebrations from supporters of the party.

Copperbelt minister Elisha Matambo expressed gratitude to the people of Chitimukulu for their trust in President Hakainde Hichilema and the New Dawn Government.

In response to the victory, UPND’s chairperson for elections, Sylvia Masebo, expressed confidence in the party’s ability to serve the people of Chitimukulu and all of Zambia with dedication and commitment.

Despite social media reports suggesting violence in Chililabombwe, Member of Parliament Paul Kabuswe confirmed that the election was peaceful.

Solomon Banda, the winning candidate in the Chitimukulu Ward by-election, has promised to carry on the legacy of the late Maureen Bwalya by continuing to implement her programs, including the street lighting project. The United Party for National Development (UPND) emerged victorious in the by-election, signaling a shift in political power in the region. Banda’s win is seen as a positive step towards progress and development in the area.

The United Party for National Development (UPND) emerged victorious with a total of 850 valid votes. Out of the 1425 registered voters, 853 cast their ballots, with only 3 being rejected as invalid. This marks a significant win for the UPND in the region.
