THE first-ever female Vice-President of the United States of America (USA) Kamala Harris, accompanied by her husband Douglas Emhoff, has arrived for a one day official visit to Zambia.
She touched down at the Kenneth Kaunda International Airport in Lusaka this afternoon and is expected to meet President Hakainde Hichilema, to discuss Zambia’s democracy, economic growth, food security as well as the Russia/Ukraine war.
The immediate past ruling party, PF has pushed in an ambitious request, with the Zambia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation for the party leadership to meet with Vice-President Harris.
According to the request letter, which is unlikely to be entertained, signed by Nickson Chilangwa as PF deputy secretary general, the party wants to use the meeting to make Vice-President Harris a “full and balanced view of the state of our odemocracy, rule of law”.
During the United Nations (UN) General Assembly, US President Joe Biden praised Zambian youths for voting out corruption.
