Government has reiterated its commitment towards implementing strategies aimed addressing gender inequalities in a bid to ensure women and girls compete favourably with their male counterpart.
Home affairs and Internal Security Minister Jack Mwiimbu says government is focussed on protecting the rights of women and girls in digital spaces and addressing online and ICT based gender based violence.
Mr. Mwiimbu who was speaking when he officiated at the Women’s day commemoration in Monze yesterday urged women to take advantage of various empowerment programs aimed at uplifting their lives.
He says money is readily available for women and the onus is on every individual to take action to apply for these funds being disbursed various ministries.
Mr. Mwiimbu who is also Monze Central MP further led the gathering in handing over of cheques to 72 women’s clubs that have been empowered through Constituency Development Fund grants.
The total amount disbursed to these 72 clubs is K972 000, and among the recipients are 3 clubs for persons living with disabilities.
And Mr. Mwiimbu highlights that government wants women to be equal partners in development by ensuring that actively participate in the national government agenda.
He has since urged women to stop doubting themselves and their abilities to excel because an enabling environment has been established to showcase their skills.
