Leader of the opposition Patriots for Economic Progress Sean Tembo has demanded that UPND Lusaka Province Deputy Chairperson Saul Cornhill should be arrested for hate speech after he insulted the University of Zambia student populace by calling them dogs.
Mr. Tembo says calling someone a dog amounts to hate speech hence President Hakainde Hichilema and Inspector General of Police Lemmy Kajoba should come out clear on the matter and tell the nation whether in their view, referring to someone as a dog amounts to hate speech or not.
He said that if Mr. Cornhill is not arrested, the conclusion will be that referring to someone as a dog does not amount to hate speech.
The UPND has since suspended Mr. Cornhill from the party for allegedly insulting the University of Zambia student populace with Secretary General Batuke Imenda apologizing to UNZA and distancing the party from the widely shared video in which Mr. Cornhill is captured insulting.
