President Hakainde Hichilema has directed the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development to work in close collaboration with the Ministry of Defense to strategize on how military equipment can be used to enhance service delivery in local authorities.
President Hichilema says there is no way military equipment can be dormant when there is so much work in which they can be used at a fee to develop the country.
Speaking during the special meeting with Local Authorities under the theme “unlocking socio-economic development locally”, the President said local authorities must work as a team in order to deliver the development which Zambians voted for.
And the President has disclosed that District Commissioners will be part of the Constituency Development Fund Committees saying he is tired of hearing complaints around the Funds hence he wants the money to be unlocked in order to benefit the people.
He has urged the local authorities to set targets of what they want to achieve in their localities such as the provision of clean and safe drinking water saying that CDF can be a game changer if properly utilized.
The Head of State has further wondered why local authorities are not collecting enough revenue despite the government removing cadres from markets and bus stations.
