Deputy Army Commander and Chief of Staff Major General Geoffrey Zyeele has today promoted Green Buffaloes Boxing Club female fighter, Private Ng’andwe Hildah to the rank of Corporal for putting up a good fight during 2022 Mount Kilimanjaro International Boxing Championship that was held in Tanzania from 27 to 31 May 2022.

Maj Gen Zyeele commended the female pugilist for her performance in the 10 Nations’ Championship where she minted a gold medal.

He urged the Army sports men and women to produce positive results as the Army was providing adequate resources to promote sports activities.

“You have no reason not to produce results; we are spending huge resources weekly to support all sports disciplines, and our expectations are for you to produce results, win medals. Otherwise we will not tolerate failure,” the Deputy Army Commander said.

Maj Gen Zyeele urged the sports men and women to be ambitious and skillful during competitions. He stressed that sports men and women should believe in themselves and treat every competition as the beginning of another.

“Stay focused, stay healthy and train hard to compete easy,” Maj Gen Zyeele emphasised.

And Director General of Sports, Commerce and Community Services Branch, Brigadier General Dan Tembo thanked Command for the support and assured the Deputy Army Commander of better results.

Corporal Ng’andwe was part of the Zambian Boxing Team that participated in the 2022 Mount Kilimanjaro International Boxing Championship in Tanzania. The Championship was used as a build-up for the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games, and it attracted 10 countries from East and Southern Africa.
