The Millers Association of Zambia says it has exceeded its target of exporting 277,500 metric tons of maize which was allocated to its members by the government last year.
MAZ president Andrew Chintala says so far, the Association has exported approximately 340,000 metric tons of maize since December last year.
Mr. Chintala has commended the government for allowing maize exports stating that the move will encourage farmers to produce more of the commodity.
He adds that the move will also win back confidence in export markets such as the Democratic Republic of Congo.
