Mufulira PF Member of Parliament Golden Mwila has challenged the government to suspend operations at the Black Mountain in Kitwe until adequate safety measures are put in place to safeguard the lives of people and the environment.
Mr. Mwila says operations at the dump site are a danger to both the miners and the environment as no safety regulations have been put in place to protect people and the environment.
He said at a media briefing that a lot of mining safety breaches are happening at the Black mountain and people have been complaining over the lack of action by the authorities to safeguard lives.
And Mr. Mwila said Zambians expect a property remedial plan to the environmental damage as a result of mining at the black mountain failure to which operations should be halted.
