Livingstone, Zambia | 17 July 2025 – A moment of camaraderie was captured as Acting Auditor General Dr. Ron Mwambwa engaged in a light-hearted exchange with Public Accounts Committee (PAC) Chairperson Hon. Warren Mwambazi and Ms. Meisi Nkau, CEO of the African Organisation of English-speaking Supreme Audit Institutions (AFROSAI-E), during the ongoing AFROSAI-E Annual Workshop on Extractive Industries and the Working Group on Extractive Industries (WGEI) Annual Steering Committee Meeting in Livingstone.
The high-level meeting, which brings together governance experts, auditors, and policymakers, focuses on enhancing transparency and accountability in the extractive sector across Africa. The jovial interaction between Dr. Mwambwa, Hon. Mwambazi, and Ms. Nkau underscored the collaborative spirit of the event, which aims to strengthen oversight mechanisms in natural resource management.
Speaking on the sidelines, Dr. Mwambwa emphasized the importance of such forums in fostering regional cooperation. “Engaging with peers and stakeholders allows us to share best practices and improve fiscal governance in Zambia and beyond,” he remarked.
Hon. Mwambazi echoed the sentiment, highlighting the PAC’s commitment to ensuring public funds in the extractive industry are utilized effectively. Meanwhile, Ms. Nkau praised Zambia’s active participation in AFROSAI-E initiatives, noting the country’s progressive strides in audit excellence.
