Lusaka, 30th June 2025 — The Energy Regulation Board (ERB) has announced a significant reduction in fuel prices for July 2025, offering relief to consumers amid favourable global market trends and a stronger Zambian Kwacha.
Key Adjustments
The revised national pump prices, effective from midnight on 30th June 2025, are as follows:
- Petrol: Reduced by 10.71% from K31.36 to K28.00 per litre.
- Diesel: Down by 7.92% from K25.12 to K23.13 per litre.
- Kerosene: Cut by 11.34% from K24.79 to K21.98 per litre.
- Jet A-1: Lowered by 11.60% from K27.08 to K23.94 per litre.
Factors Behind the Reduction
The ERB attributed the price cuts to two major factors:
- Appreciation of the Kwacha: The local currency strengthened by 11.20% against the US dollar, trading at K24.03/US$ compared to K27.06/US$ in May 2025.
- Decline in International Premiums:
- Petrol premiums on the Tanzanian Bulk Procurement System (BPS) fell by 20.33%.
- Diesel premiums under the TAZAMA Open Access scheme dropped by 0.42%.
- Kerosene/Jet A-1 premiums decreased by 5.64%.
Despite a rise in global crude oil prices—with petrol up 5.70%, diesel up 6.30%, and kerosene up 5.36%—the Kwacha’s gains and reduced premiums offset these increases, resulting in lower domestic fuel costs.
Airfield Pricing
Posted Airfield Prices (PAP) for Jet A-1 at international airports vary:
- Kenneth Kaunda International Airport (Lusaka): K23.94/litre
- Mfuwe Airport: K27.18/litre
- Harry Mwaanga Nkumbula (Livingstone): K24.75/litre
- Simon Mwansa Kapwepwe (Ndola): K23.94/litre
