Choma, Southern Province | 20 May 2025 – President Hakainde Hichilema has reiterated his administration’s unwavering commitment to revitalising Zambia’s economy through unity, peace, and hard work. Speaking to residents of Mboole area in Sikalongo Ward, Choma Central Constituency, the Head of State emphasised that the government remains focused on delivering tangible development while prudently managing national resources.

“The mandate you gave us in 2021 is one we hold with the highest responsibility,” President Hichilema stated. “That is why we have implemented key interventions like free education and accelerated job creation across both public and private sectors.” The President highlighted that redirecting national resources from consumption to productive investments remains central to the government’s economic strategy.

The introduction of free education has already begun transforming Zambia’s educational landscape, removing financial barriers that previously excluded many children from schooling. Meanwhile, strategic policies aimed at stimulating private sector growth have contributed to increased employment opportunities nationwide.

President Hichilema stressed that national progress requires collective effort from all Zambians. “Development cannot be achieved by government alone,” he noted. “Whether as farmers, teachers, entrepreneurs or civil servants, every citizen has a crucial role to play in building our nation.”

The President’s address in Southern Province comes as his administration marks significant milestones in economic stabilisation, including improved fiscal management and renewed investor confidence. However, he acknowledged that more work lies ahead to ensure all Zambians benefit from the country’s recovery.

In his closing remarks, President Hichilema expressed gratitude to citizens for their continued trust and cooperation. “With unity of purpose and sustained hard work, we are confident that Zambia will achieve the prosperity we all desire,” he said. “May God bless our nation and guide us forward on this journey of transformation.”

The visit to Choma forms part of the President’s ongoing nationwide engagements to assess development progress and reinforce the government’s commitment to inclusive growth. Analysts suggest such direct community interactions remain vital for maintaining public confidence in Zambia’s economic turnaround efforts.
