Lusaka, Zambia – May 9, 2025
In a significant development for Zambian football, Keith Mweemba has been elected as the new President of the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ). The election, held today, concluded with Mweemba emerging victorious over incumbent Andrew Kamanga.
Mweemba, who also serves as the proprietor of FC MUZA, emphasized his commitment to representing all clubs equally. He stated, “MUZA won’t be affected because when I take over as FAZ president, it means that I will become the father of all the clubs.”
The election process was marked by legal disputes and appeals. Initially, Mweemba and several other candidates were disqualified from the presidential race due to alleged constitutional requirements. However, successful appeals reinstated their candidacies, leading to a contested election.
Mweemba’s leadership is anticipated to bring renewed focus on unity and transparency in Zambian football. In his manifesto, he emphasized the need to restore unity and transparency in the sport.
