📍 Mongu, Zambia – It was a moment of excitement and national pride as President Hakainde Hichilema received a thunderous welcome upon his arrival in Mongu to grace this year’s Youth Day Celebration in the Western Province capital town.

Thousands of enthusiastic youths and residents lined the streets, waving Zambian flags and chanting the President’s name as his motorcade made its way through Mongu. The atmosphere was electric, with songs of unity and hope echoing through the streets — a powerful reflection of the youth’s unwavering belief in the country’s future under President Hichilema’s leadership.

🎯 Youth at the Centre of National Development

This year’s Youth Day, celebrated under the theme “Voices Amplified and Innovations Ignited,” emphasised the critical role young people play in Zambia’s social, political, and economic development. In his keynote address, President Hichilema reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to empowering the youth through:
✅ Increased funding for youth-led enterprises and start-ups.
✅ Enhanced access to quality education and vocational training.
✅ Expanding job opportunities and creating a youth-friendly economic environment.

“Our young people are the backbone of this nation. We must empower them with the tools and opportunities they need to thrive. Today, I stand here to assure you that this government is committed to building a Zambia where every young person can dream and achieve,” said President Hichilema.

🚀 Massive Turnout and Emotional Scenes

The celebration drew an overwhelming crowd from all corners of Western Province and beyond. Young people turned up in traditional attire, proudly showcasing Zambia’s rich cultural diversity. The excitement reached its peak when the President joined the crowd in singing the national anthem, a moment that left many emotional and inspired.

One of the attendees, Mutinta Mwenda, a 19-year-old university student from Mongu, expressed her excitement:
“Seeing the President in person and hearing him speak about youth empowerment gives me so much hope. This is the leadership we’ve been waiting for — someone who understands and values the youth.”

🔥 A Call for Action and Unity

President Hichilema challenged the youth to step up and play an active role in shaping Zambia’s future. He urged them to embrace innovation, unity, and hard work as pillars for national development.

“The future belongs to you. Let your voices be heard, let your ideas shine, and let your innovations lead the way to a prosperous Zambia,” he said to a roaring applause.

          🌍 Social and Economic Impact

The President highlighted key initiatives that his government has rolled out to support the youth, including:
✅ The Youth Empowerment Fund to support youth entrepreneurs.
✅ Skills development programmes targeting rural and urban youth.
✅ Increased investment in agriculture and technology to create sustainable jobs.

          🎉 A Celebration to Remember

The event concluded with vibrant performances by local artists and traditional dancers, symbolising the unity and cultural strength of the nation. The President was seen mingling with the youth, taking selfies, and engaging in heartfelt conversations — a rare and genuine moment of connection between leadership and the people.

💪 Zambia’s youth have spoken — and their voices are being heard. Under President Hichilema’s leadership, the future looks brighter than ever.
