Mwandi, Zambia – In a strong show of support, women in Mwandi District have officially endorsed President Hakainde Hichilema for re-election in the 2026 general elections. The endorsement highlights the growing confidence in the United Party for National Development (UPND) and its ongoing developmental initiatives across the country.

During a community gathering in Mwandi yesterday, local women leaders expressed their appreciation for President Hichilema’s leadership, citing the government’s commitment to social welfare and economic empowerment.

Speaking at the event, Grace Kwalombota praised President Hichilema and his administration for their dedication to uplifting citizens despite various challenges.

“The government’s social interventions have been a lifesaver for many families. Without timely support, many households would have struggled with hunger. President Hichilema has truly embraced the people and shown he is a leader for all,” said Kwalombota.

Echoing similar sentiments, Mwale Nyambe lauded the impact of the Cash for Work program, describing it as a lifeline for women in the community.

“This initiative has provided us with income and stability. It has allowed many women to support their families and maintain their dignity. In 2026, we must show our appreciation by standing with President Hichilema,” Nyambe declared.

Mwandi Member of Parliament, Hon. Sibeso Sefulo Kakoma, also attended the gathering and expressed gratitude for the unwavering support from her constituents. She commended the government’s strides in education and community development.

“The introduction of Free Education has transformed lives. Many struggling families can now send their children to school without the burden of fees. This is a major achievement that we must not take for granted,” Hon. Kakoma stated.

She also extended her appreciation to the Nelly Muti Foundation for donating chitenge materials to women in anticipation of the upcoming International Women’s Day celebrations.

With the next general elections fast approaching, the endorsement from Mwandi women signifies the increasing support for President Hichilema’s leadership. The government’s focus on economic recovery, job creation, and social empowerment has resonated deeply with communities across the country.

As the 2026 elections draw near, this overwhelming endorsement from Mwandi sets the tone for what appears to be a strong and united backing for the UPND and President Hichilema’s vision for Zambia’s future.
