📍 Location: Nalolo, Western Province, Zambia
We are excited to announce a significant development for Sianda Secondary School, located in Nalolo District of Western Province. A new classroom block is on the horizon, thanks to a generous grant from the Japanese Government. The grant, valued at 64,766 United States dollars, will go towards the construction of the classroom block, along with the provision of much-needed office furniture for the school. This marks a major step forward for education in the area.
The contract signing ceremony, which brought together representatives from both the Zambian and Japanese Governments, was a proud moment for all involved. This initiative falls under the Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects, a programme designed to meet the pressing needs of developing countries, particularly in sectors that directly impact the well-being of the community.
Sianda Secondary School, one of only four secondary schools in Nalolo District, has a long history. Sianda Primary School was established in 1918, and the secondary school component was introduced only recently, in 2020. This new infrastructure project represents a turning point, as it marks the end of Sianda Secondary School being hosted by the Primary School’s infrastructure. The much-needed classroom block will improve the learning environment for the students and help ensure a better educational experience moving forward.
We are deeply grateful to the Japanese Government for this invaluable contribution to the future of our children. As Hon. Imanga Wamunyima Jr., the Member of Parliament for Nalolo Constituency, stated, “This project is a key milestone in the development of Sianda Secondary School, and we will continue to lobby for more initiatives that benefit our community.”
Let’s celebrate this new chapter in the educational development of Nalolo and continue to support efforts aimed at improving the lives of our people. Stay tuned for updates on this project as it progresses!
