🌍 DAR ES SALAAM, TANZANIA – A Landmark Summit for Regional Stability

In a defining moment for peace and stability in Africa, regional leaders from the East African Community (EAC) and the Southern African Development Community (SADC) convened in Dar es Salaam yesterday, reaffirming their collective commitment to a peaceful resolution to the ongoing conflict in Eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

With hundreds of thousands of innocent civilians displaced and countless lives lost, the urgency of immediate ceasefire and cessation of hostilities took centre stage at the high-stakes summit. Leaders emphasised that dialogue—not war—is the only path to lasting peace.

“Peace is Forged at the Negotiating Table, Not on the Battlefield” – President Hichilema

Zambia’s President Hakainde Hichilema delivered a powerful message, stressing that meaningful, sustained, and solution-oriented negotiations remain the only viable way forward.

“There is an urgent and pressing need for an immediate ceasefire and cessation of hostilities in the region. The only viable path forward is dialogue—meaningful, sustained, and solution-oriented dialogue. We firmly believe that lasting peace is not forged on the battlefield but at the negotiating table.” – President Hichilema

His remarks have resonated widely, sparking conversations across social media as citizens, policymakers, and peace advocates call for swift action.

A Unified Front for Peace—Regional Leaders Step Up

The summit saw the unwavering support of influential regional leaders, including:

✅ Her Excellency President Samia Suluhu Hassan of Tanzania, who graciously hosted the summit and reaffirmed Tanzania’s commitment to regional peace.

✅ President Emmerson Mnangagwa of Zimbabwe and President William Ruto of Kenya, who co-hosted the discussions, playing a critical role in shaping the roadmap for peace in Eastern DRC.

Their leadership and diplomatic efforts were widely commended as they continue to push for regional stability.
