President Hakainde Hichilema has expressed confidence that Zambia is on the right path to resolving the current electricity challenges, exacerbated by the effects of climate change.
Speaking to journalists at Kenneth Kaunda International Airport before his departure for Tanzania, where he will attend the Mission 300 Africa Energy Summit, the President highlighted the government’s efforts in tackling the energy crisis. He emphasized the strides being made to lower the cost of alternative energy sources, which are crucial to addressing the nation’s electricity shortfalls.
“The recent drought, while challenging, presents an opportunity for Zambia to shift resources from waste into sustainable investments, including in our energy sector,” President Hichilema said.
The President also stated that the Mission 300 Summit would serve as a platform to showcase Zambia’s energy investments, which are aimed at not only solving the country’s energy challenges but also contributing to providing electricity for 300 million Africans. “This is a vital initiative for all of Africa, and Zambia is committed to being part of this transformation,” he added.
As President Hichilema continues to engage with fellow leaders at the summit, Zambia’s future in energy investment looks promising, with a focus on sustainable solutions for both the country and the continent.
